There are many questions asked, and much guidance given. Even the greats needed advice before their stories became the beloved adventures we know today. But where do you go to get that advice? That's where my services come in.

If we haven't met yet, then hello! I'm Lori Ann, an author, editor, and student of stories. I've spent the past nine years of writing working on science fiction and fantasy novels, running an editorial team and small press, gaining experience by editing manuscripts, as well as joining publishing internships. I have published a few short stories and flash fiction pieces, and am a student at The Author Conservatory.

Whether you are looking for feedback on how to successfully have your sci-fi or dystopian characters escape the city, your fantasy characters complete the dragon heist, or you'd like some guidance on how to apply edits, I've got a list of services for you.

Mentorship

If you are looking for advice as you write your first draft or have questions in the middle of self-edits, then this service might be the thing for you!

I offer two, three, and six-month mentorship packages that include one call a month (each an hour long) and emails in between. You'll have direct access to my inbox and chances to ask questions as they come up.

Rates: $60 an hour

Dev edit + Mentorship package

Is your manuscript ready for a developmental edit, but you aren't sure about applying those edits successfully?

This package is perfect for aspiring or new authors who want a little extra advice beyond what's written in an edit letter. For this service, I'll complete a developmental edit on your novel or short story as well as an edit letter, and you'll get two one-hour calls (once a month) with emails in between for any questions you have on applying those edits.

This package is offered at a discounted rate, slightly cheaper than you'd get if you booked these services separately.

Rates: $0.008 per word (developmental edit), $30 per hour for each call

Nonfiction, AI generated text, erotica (smut or open door), poetry, witchcraft, horror, excessive gore or violence.

If you would like to book an edit, but are not sure if your story has elements or genres not accepted, please fill out the form on my contact page. I will respond at the earliest opportunity to discuss if I will be able to take on editing your project. I do not shy away from hard topics, but I will turn away a project if I am not comfortable with or do not agree with the content.

Just like I will not work with text written by AI, I will not use AI to work on any manuscripts.
